Court Denies Liquor Permittee’s Motion in Dram Shop Case

Connecticut Crime Victim Lawyer Tim O’Keefe has announced that a Superior Court Judge has denied a motion for summary judgment filed by a liquor permittee in a Dram Shop Case pending in Torrington Superior Court. “This case involves a horrific drunk driving crash.  We sued both the operator of the bar and the liquor permittee.  The liquor permittee tried to argue that she has no legal responsibility for the over-service of the drunk driver. The court rejected those arguments.  We will now get to proceed to trial against both defendants.  This is a very good liquor liability decision.”  Tim O’Keefe

Dram Shop Claim to Proceed to Trial in June

Connecticut Crime Victim Lawyer Tim O’Keefe will be on trial in a Connecticut Dram Shop Statute case in June, 2019.  “This case was filed against the operator of a bar in Torrington, Connecticut for its service of alcohol to an intoxicated person.  At the time of the crash, the bar patron was almost three times the legal limit to operate a vehicle.  There is no way this bar should have been serving alcohol to this patron by the end of the evening. That decision put the entire community at risk.  The patron drove drunk and caused a very bad automobile crash.”  Tim O’Keefe

Child Molester’s Home Obtained Through Foreclosure Proceeding

Connecticut Crime Victim Lawyer Tim O’Keefe has obtained the real property of a child molester for a client who was abused by that child molester when the client was a young boy.  “We sued the perpetrator and obtained a very substantial judgment against him.  We then started a foreclosure action on his real property and obtained the property through that proceeding.  It is very satisfying when we can hold child sex perpetrators accountable for their actions by obtaining just compensation for their victims.”  Tim O’Keefe
